Baby!

Things have been a little slow around here, partly due to the holiday season, but mostly because of our new little girl Kiera. Waayyy back in November my wife and I did a maternity session at the studo just a few days before Kiera was born. I’ve been meaning to share one of the shots from the shoot for quite awhile now but didn’t have the chance while working on things for clients.

We did a series of photos and my wife let me share this one. I’ll be sure to get some of the new baby up soon as well.

Ms. S. did a shoot with us before the holidays and was kind enough to let us use one of her images for the blog. I wish I could show you the rest because it was a great shoot! We shot this session in the studio in Sudbury and had a fantastic time. Kudos to Ms. S. for being brave enough to step out of her comfort zone and try something new!

She also wrote these very kind words about her experience in working with Michelle and I on her session:

I am very pleased with my experience with Patton Boudoir. I’ve always wanted to have glamorous photos of me to remind myself that I can be feminine and pretty. A friend told me about a promotional contest that the studio was having, so I figured I had nothing to lose.

I’m not exactly what you’d call shy, but I certainly have never felt comfortable in front of a camera. With some joking and positive reinforcement, though, Erik and the makeup artist made me feel right at home in their tiny studio.

I think laughter and a sense of humor go hand-in-hand with being sexy. It was refreshing to be able to banter back and forth with Erik (and my friend, whom I took along for even more support).  It didn’t take me long to loosen up and think, “Hell yes, I am sexy.” I think my photos portray that.

I recommend Patton Boudoir to any girl who needs a little pick-me-up in the confidence department. Having this experience under my belt has definitely made me feel like a more feminine, confident person.

Ms. A.

Many of the great women we photograph work in creative fields such as music, dance, and studio art. Often they have a pretty clear vision of what they would like to do for their shoot and are willing to push their boundaries a bit.

One such client came to us with an interest in shooting in her downtown Boston loft space. Ms. A. works as a professional musician and has a gorgeous apartment in an old factory with 18 foot ceilings, exposed brick and beam and tons of great natural light.

She was gracious enough to let us use a couple of photographs from our boudoir shoot so that we could give you just a sneak peek.

Thanks Ms. A. for a great shoot!

Feature You Friday with Our Hair Expert and Comedian Tracey

Patton Boudoir hair stylist Tracey

This is my friend Tracey. She’s been my stylist for a number of years now. I’ve never been one of those guys that was happy with just the barber shop. I’m just too picky about my hair and the way it looks. When I was living in California, I discovered that a professional stylist was the only way to go. Using a straight edge for the cut, a messy look for the styling and a little product to hold it all in place. Perfect.

So when I moved out to Boston to be with my wife, I looked and looked for the right stylist. After about a year of trying different places I eventually stumbled into meeting Tracey. Aside from the haircut itself, finding the right personality mix is also critical. I mean you’re going to have to sit there for at least 30 minutes so you might as well be entertained, right? I quickly learned that Tracey is pretty much a one woman stream of consciousness stand up show. And I loved it.

Not too long after, I decided that Tracey was the woman for me. I’ve followed her around to different salons and worked around her schedule that involves her two little ones, Collin and Lucy. It’s that important to me to have the right stylist.

When I decided that I was going to focus on boudoir, it became apparent to me that I was going to need some one I could go to specifically for hair. Tracy does everything from coloring to up-dos, so she’s pretty much got it all covered.

So if you’re thinking about doing a look that’s got complicated hair, she’ll hook you up. She’s based in metro west like we are and always up for a fashion shoot where she has a captive audience for her standup routine.
