Along the way we also took a few glamour portraits and some traditional boudoir shots just for good measure. Here’s a selection of my favorites.

First up the cover girl shot.

The black definitely creates a striking image. I love this one.

While the white tulle creates a soft airy image with some blurring.

I gave my fiancée a book of boudoir photography for our wedding day, and he keeps saying how it is the best gift he’s ever gotten. He literally can’t stop talking about it! Working with Erik is fantastic. He truly is an artist. The photos came out beautifully, and it is clear that not only does he have a refined eye, but he is also a master of using light- which to me is one of the most important facets to photography.

Initially I had a ton of ideas of what I wanted to do, and Erik really put me at ease and help shape both the session and the book. In the end, I not only got the shots I wanted, but Erik also used some of his ideas, so I got some wonderful ‘surprise’ shots. He is incredibly professional, and will certainly go the extra mile to make sure the end product is something you are happy with and will treasure. He also really puts you at ease- especially with helping to pose in order to get the best shots of yourself. I can’t emphasize how classy and beautiful the end product is!!

But if you read the Oxford English Dictionary definition for glamor, it sounds pretty good:

            Charm; attractiveness; physical allure, esp. feminine beauty

Who doesn’t want to be charming and attractive?  Or alluring and beautiful?  I’m not sure how we got from feather boas to  feminine beauty, but the good news is that today’s glamor photography is nothing like the old days.

So yes, we’re proud to do glamor photography because we want you to feel and be all of of these things.  A lot of today’s boudoir photography is really glamor photography in disguise.  Swap the sexy wardrobe for something more conservative and now we’re making beauty portraits — aka glamor photos.

1. What a great gift for someone special

Gift giving time for a loved one rolls around and you want to get him something special. Of all the presents in the world, I bet he would choose you so why not give it to him? After all, men are visual so pictures of you, his beautiful special someone? Not much better than that folks.

2. Do something special for yourself

Yes these photo make a great gift…but boudoir isn’t just about your man, it’s about doing something special for yourself. These sessions are a full pampering experience. You are the star of the show, with a professional makeup at your side as you wear something new and pretty you purchased just for this occasion.  For a little while, it is all about you and you deserve it.

3. Get outside your comfort zone

Doing a boudoir shoot is a way to challenge yourself and step outside of your comfort zone. Many women are a bit insecure about the way they look, but I assure you it is in your head and this is the best way to see that. I guarantee that you will find a new love for yourself.

Last week I had the opportunity to work with Anna on some glamour portraiture. For this shoot the emphasis was on more traditional portraiture but with some boudoir thrown in for good measure. With a hefty dose of makeup and some good coaching, we got some great beauty shots.

I love this image. It’s probably my favorite from the entire shoot. Soft, flowing, and graceful.

The shoot wasn’t all serious and arty. I mean how serious can you be really when you’re having so much fun?

Here I think she looks like a Grecian statue. Very classical, no?

I was was really eager to put what I’d learned into practice so I got together a couple of weeks ago with a model to do some shooting in the studio. My goal was to do something that had more of a fine art feel to it, but without being stuffy or really out there. I also wanted to incorporate some movement into my shots.

This is part one of the shoot. The second part was done with fabric and will be posted soon.

We did a series of photos and my wife let me share this one. I’ll be sure to get some of the new baby up soon as well.
