Ms. V. and Her Tattoos

On a recent shoot I discovered that I love shooting clients with tattoos. I’ve had lots of clients with them, but most seem to want to hide them or not feature them prominently. When Ms. V. came into the studio I could tell right away this was not going to be the case for this shoot. She’s got some edgy tattoos and experience as a professional mix martial arts fighter to back them up.

Don’t be fooled by what’s on the outside though. She’s one of the sweetest clients we’ve ever had. She was looking to some shots for her husband and I was happy to help out. She loved her pictures and was kind enough to let me share them with you.

The Sexy Summer Season

Thinking about doing a summer boudoir shoot? We are in full support! With the warm climate, bikinis, glowing sun…it is a sexy time of year when we let our skin show and take a load off.

Things to consider during this season:

  1. Think about outdoor locations for shoots. With the gorgeous ambiance, fauna in bloom, and sun shining brightly, there are many options outside the studio that would make for incredible boudoir photos. And you certainly won’t have to worry about being cold while facing the elements.
  2. One thing about this season that makes us feel radiant is a warm summer tan. We become more confident which will make any boudoir shoot fun and fruitful. That extra vitamin B the sun provides us also improves your mood and decreases stress, making for a great boudoir attitude. Just don’t forget to consider those tan lines when you are choosing outfits.
  3. When scheduling your shoot, think about when you will feel most relaxed. Many of us take vacations during this time of year and this laid back attitude that can be achieved by taking the time to relax could be beneficial to your experience.

I found a great old fur coat and pillbox hat at a vintage store in Cambridge that I thought would be perfect for a shoot. So I called my friend Melissa to see if she would be interested in having some fun with them in the studio. Michelle did her hair and makeup and Melissa brought the lingerie and accessories.

Why boudoir photography?

This medium is a mixture of sensual, fun, creative, empowering, and liberating. Need I go on? Boudoir has been around in different forms for ages because it shows the sheer beauty and confidence of a women, which is something to celebrate. As a man surrounded by females, be it my photo team or wife and daughter at home, I see how hard you work. And for me it’s great to see a woman who wants to take some time out to pamper and enjoy herself. Even though it can be nervwracking to come into this type of shoot, they come in ready to try something new or leave their comfort zones. And it is so rewarding to watch clients walk away with a smile on their face and a hop in their step. It’s the inner glow they find in these shoots that is most amazing.

Boudoir session are also some of the most creative shoots which is fun for me as well as the model or client. It’s a great opportunity for everyone involved to venture out of the norm and the result has been awesome. Some clients have come up with great ideas that I have greatly enjoyed experimenting with. And even the classic poses have a range to play with.

The boudoir experience is one that is rewarding, fun, and creative. And that’s reason enough for me.
